Rattanakosin Story

This tour will explore the history of the Rattanakosin period and some of the area’s most famous landmarks. You will also discover more about the different kings who had an impression on this area. As we walk you will pass famous places like, the Amulet Market, Thammasat University, Wat Mahthat, Sanam Luang, City Pillar Shrine, and Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha). However, we will also take you to a few lesser now places like Wat Ratchapradit and Saranrom Park.  

This walk aimed at giving a great overview of the area but without actually going into all the places we pass.  

Please dress respectfully. We do visit temples; trousers should be a respectable length. Also, it is best to ensure the shoulders are covered.  

Specifically, At the end of the tour, If the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha are open, we will explore there specially (exclude entrance fee 500 THB/person).

The Tour end at Tha Maharaj or The Grand Palace if we can get in, guide will recommend the best way to come back in town or your next destination.

Chinatown & Talad Noi

In this tour we will explore one of the oldest communities in Bangkok “China Town”. We will explore lively local market, Sampang Lane, fabric stalls, gold shops and street food strolls. After that we will explore Talad Noi, the hidden neighborhood of China Town. Talad Noi is an old Chinese community running parallel to the eastern bank of Chaopraya River. It is well known for historic building and charming Chinese- Thai architecture and now street art venue.

Diversity & Harmony Walking Tour

This walking tour visits a stretch of the riverbank on the Thonburi side where many original communities remain and passes by Thai temples, Chinese shrines, churches and mosques. Yet, this is not a tour about religion, but rather one where we explore the diverse local cultures and the stories of how these groups arrived in the area.  

The tour starts by taking the ferry across to the Thonburi side of the river and a visit to the famous Wat Kalayanamit. From here we will walk along a combination of riverside paths and backstreets, passing through a diverse range of local neighborhoods. This includes the Portuguese Catholic community, known as Kudeejeen, which is famous for its’ local cake. We will also visit the Princess Mother's Memorial Park and the neighboring Chinese shrine and mosque. Along the way we will see signs of the past and the industry that used to be part of the area. We finish the tour at Tha Din Daeng which is a foodie’s paradise, and after the tour you can grab some lunch here or head across the river to Chinatown.

Where East Meets West

Along the bank of the Chao Phraya River, traders from both the East and the West started settling over one hundred years ago. In response to the requests from the early European settlers, Charoen Krung Road was built and became Bangkok’s first paved road. This tour follows the Charoen Krung Road and explores the stories behind the communities that settled in the Bangrak district of Bangkok. 

As you walk, we will pass through the fascinating area of Bangrak where Chinese, Thai and Muslim communities coexist and we pass by market vendors, shops and restaurants who have been operating as family businesses for over 70 years. As we approach the Assumption Church and community the focus changes to the Europeans and the impact they had on Bangkok as the country opened up to trade with the West. As we continue, we see the signs of this impacts: The first hotel in Bangkok, the first road in Bangkok, The European Embassies, The Customs House…

What you need to know before the tour

  • Bring some water 
  • Comfortable shoes but no sandals 
  • This is a join-in tour so you may be joined by others. The maximum group size is 10 passengers.   
  • Please be on time. As there may be others in the group we cannot wait around. If you know you are going to be late, please phone us on the emergency number 085 873 3308 
  • Bangkok is warm and normally sunny; we recommend sunscreen and sun glasses 
  • We cannot predict the weather but there is a chance it could rain. So please carry umbrellas to be safe.
