People associate Bangkok and Thailand with Buddhism, yet it is city where many cultures live in harmony alongside each other. This walking tour visits a stretch of the Thonburi riverbank, where many original communities remain and passes by Thai temples, Chinese shrines, churches and mosques. Yet, this is not a tour about religion, but rather one where we explore the diverse local cultures. As we walk through the small backstreets we will stop to discover both the local history and sample the local snacks on offer

Highlights

Our local licensed Tour Guide will meet you at your hotel and escort you by public transport to the area of this walk, from where you will explore by foot.

You will then explore the area between Tha Din Daeng and Wat Kalayanamit. This is an area with significant cultural diversity and 4 key ethnic groups: Thai Chinese, Thai Buddhist, Muslin and Catholic.

You will walk along riverside paths and small alleyways. As you walk you will pass: Old warehouses, The Princess Mothers Memorial Park, Guan Wu shrine, Guwatin Mosque, Memorial Bridge, Santa Cruz Church and the Kudeejeen (Portuguese-Catholic) Community.

Along the way we will provide water and the opportunity to stop for a snack, cold drinks and a rest.

At the end your guide will get you back to your hotel or your next destination.

This walk takes place in the area just across the river from landmarks like The Flower, Market, Chinatown, Wat Pho and The Grand Palace. Therefore, if you want to explore these after the tour, your guide can point you in the right direction.
