Jim Thompson sale: 05-07 June

A tour around the former house of American explorer and Thai silk industry specialist Jim Thompson is on the itinerary of many a visitor to Bangkok. Taking home a souvenir after your visit gets a lot more affordable – meaning you can buy more – as the Jim Thompson House rolls out its annual sale at the BITEC convention centre. 10am-5pm; BTS Bang Na; www.jimthompsonhouse.com.

Art Box Exhibition Flea Market: 12-14 & 19-21 June

Expect vintage fashion and other goodies galore – plus plenty to eat and drink from Bangkok’s foodie regulars and others – at this market over two weekends at Makkasan Airport Rail Link station. As an added twist, all the action takes place inside converted shipping containers. From 11am; www.artboxbkk.com.

TedxBangkok: 13 June

Bangkok’s first large-scale Ted talks see a line-up including speakers from various Thai industries, including social enterprise founders, senior Google Thailand staff, social commentators and more. The event takes place under the banner Catching the Ripples; at the King Power Pullman Hotel tickets are required for entry, but otherwise you can stream the talks live online, where you’ll also find recordings afterwards. La Fete French cultural festival: 03-20 June

Here comes a chance to indulge your inner European intellectual. The eleventh and final French-Thai cultural festival, La Fete, takes place throughout June, combining concerts with art and photography exhibitions, dance performances and more – there’s even a hip-hop battle.
